Worcester Massachusetts Attractions
Worcester, the second largest city in Massachusetts, has become an increasingly popular destination for visitors from around the region in recent years. Worcester may seem like nothing more than a big city, but its diversity of cultural attractions should not be overlooked. In fact, compared to other major cities in the state, such as Boston and New York, Worcester has a very low rate of violent crime.
While Boston gets the most attention for aggressive drivers in New England, Worcester is by far the worst, averaging 1.5 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.
Interstate 290 runs through Worcester and connects the city with the surrounding suburbs as well as New York City and Boston. The Blackstone River Bikeway consists of a 1.5 km trail from Worcester to Millbury, Massachusetts. Although parts of it are often no longer maintained, it is a great way to explore some of the most scenic hiking trails in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New England. So far, the finished trail in Massachusetts connects Worcester and Millbury, it is being repaved and the finished trail connects Worcester with the cities of Lincoln, Cumberland, Manville and Woonsocket, all connected by the Blackstones River cycle path.

Worcester was the number one state university in 2012 in enrollment and is the second largest state university in New England.
